Can I Have Both?

This is a fair point. Now, I have a useless liberal arts degree and work as a dish washer with full benefits; and generally dislike people who put themselves on a pedestal. So where does that put me in the argument?

Have You Spoken With Your Children…

About the harmful effects and potential terror that can be wrought by organized religion?

In all seriousness, I pick on religion a fair bit. But pay mind, I don’t call out people who are religious; but rather institutions that seek to maintain the status quo using their god or gods as a reason.

Remember: for more than a thousand years, people simply could not question the church. They were a social, political and military power in dozens of nations. Now, I can question that terrible things various churches do from the privacy of my own room.

Video Game Lessons

If video games taught American anything…

Well, there are a few that have better lessons, but I think “diamond in the rough” is the phrase I’m looking for.

But why? One has a jamming problem and the other will fire after being buried in the sand for ten years. Is this why they say “good guys finish last?”

Try atheism

When God shows up promoting a little friendly atheism, I’m reminded of something one of my favorite musicians said:

“Being an atheist means you have to realize that when you die, that really is it. You’ve got to make the most of what you’ve got here and spread as much influence as you can. I believe that you only live through the influence that you spread, whether that means having a kid or making music.”

I think what Matt Bellamy was saying here is that we can’t waste a bunch of time acting like we have all the answers for any reason (let alone “because God said so.”) So make the best of now and live on through the things you leave behind.

Try atheism

Almost 100 Percent

I really should know better than to make jokes at the expense of those Americans who were unfortunate enough to be born into ignorant states and districts where abstinence is the only method of contraception taught.

But then again, as a scientist, I have to keep attempting the same experiment until something unexpected happens.

But in all seriousness, use a condom; they work better than prayer and promises; have fun, be safe.

And if you can’t be safe and end up with a kid, name it after me.
